Grievance Rep Report - Burleigh/Men. Falls Plant, Second ShiftBy Jesse Edwards Safety & Health Any employee called or referred to safety or worker’s compensation for an interview with a company representative has the right to union representation. Take your steward or grievance representative with you. An employee who is injured while at work and who, on that day or on any other day, is sent by the company to a doctor for treatment, will be paid for lost time on that day at his day work rate, if he/she presents a certificate from the doctor. Any employee that is injured while at work shall notify their foreman and report to the E.M.T. or the nurse’s office for treatment. Retiree Insurance Employees who retire with 30 years of service and then later decide that they would like to change their plan, can do so during open enrollment. It does not matter if you live in the State of Wisconsin or out-of-state. During open enrollment you have the same option that the employees currently working have. MED Production The Model 19’s are weak. The Model 9’s are strong and the 40/42 twins look good through June. Also, there is a possibility that the Model 28 cam gears will be machined in Milwaukee. Die Cast At this time, Die Cast may be adding a few operators and a few machine tenders. Also, the Union plans to schedule a meeting with management to discuss the many issues that we have in Die Cast. The Company did say that they plan to add more jobs in the future. Michael Foster Michael Foster, steward in Department 192 and Trustee, vested his rights with Briggs & Stratton. He was one of the strong links in the chain for the Union, as well as in Die Cast, and will be greatly missed. Thanks and good luck!!!! Grievances I was able to settle 6 grievances; however, I have one that is scheduled for 3rd Stage at this time. Election Year I encourage all members to get out and vote on November 7, 2000! In solidarity, Jesse Edwards |
