Die Cast votes not to split

          In the Die Cast Division, Briggs and Stratton approached the Union about a mid-contract change to separate Department 197 from Departments 191 and 192 for layoff purposes. Departments 191, 192 and 197 are separate departments except for layoff. The Bargaining Committee decided to take this change to the members for an advisory vote. It was overwhelmingly voted down 141 to 7. Members of these Die Cast Departments felt there wasn't any benefit to this proposal. Hence, the three departments will remain as is.
