Health Center Set for Grand Opening
By Ross WinklbauerThe Briggs and Stratton Health Center operated by Quad-Med is set for its grand opening on January 2, 2003. Mike Merrill and I had a chance to tour the center and meet with some of the doctors, nurses and trainers. The medical center is a very up to date treatment facility with spacious examination rooms. Some of the services available include primary care treatment, urgent care, basic laboratory services and occupational health treatment. The thing the doctors and nurses said over and over again was they are here to serve you, the patient, and they want to get to know you. There will be no rushing the patient in and out like at many other clinics. The appointments will be scheduled for at least one-half hour or longer if needed. They want a chance to listen to your concerns and to treat any problems you may have. They all seemed very excited and energetic about the opportunity to be at this clinic. They declared that their mission is to "Be recognized by Briggs and Stratton employees as an integrated partner in the overall management of their health and well being by offering quality, cost effective, convenient and confidential occupational and primary health care solutions. They also said that in spite of the clinic being located at Briggs and Stratton, Briggs won't have access to any medical records and you will still have the same confidential care that you now have going to any other clinic.
The fitness center will be a state of the art, fully-equipped center for building strength, endurance and good health. The center is open to Briggs and Stratton employees, covered spouses and dependents over 18 years old and eligible retirees and their dependents. The fitness center is open seven days a week from 4:30 a.m. to midnight. The staff and services for the clinic will include the fitness coordinator, who will be part time; a physical therapist, an occupational therapist, wellness and fitness programs, and a massage therapist (fee for service)
Dana Skinner, on right in above picture, is the upbeat fitness coordinator. She is very excited to be here and is looking forward to getting to know you. Sign up for the fitness center and after a very short orientation, you can begin using the equipment. I think you will be pleasantly surprised.
