Steward Training

            The Local held another Steward Training Session on February 10, 2000 at 12:30 p.m. for 2nd/3rd Shift and 3:30 p.m. for 1st/3rd Shift.

            The featured speaker for this training was Randy Kratz, a counselor from Symmetry. Symmetry is the Employee Assistance Program currently utilized by Strattec members.

            His topic was Conflict Resolution in the Workplace. The presentation helped us learn to:

  1. Identify conflict management style

  2. Define sources and patterns of conflict

  3. Understand and begin to develop conflict resolution skills.

            It was a very interesting and informative session, as we all must deal with conflict as union representatives, as well as in different facets of our lives.

            The Bargaining Committees also gave presentations:

 Karl Schneider spoke on the need for confidentiality of stewards

 Mike Merrill, Dennis Nowak and John Nalepinski talked about various issues stewards must deal with in Worker’s Compensation 

bullet

Barb Schuller spoke about problems members sometimes encounter in getting prompt payment for  time off on bereavement leave.

            As per our By-Laws, there will be regular steward training sessions four times a year.
