Trade union classes offered

             The School for Workers - UW Extension, Milwaukee Area Technical College and the Milwaukee County Labor Council are pleased to sponsor one 6 week and one 3 week class described below. These classes will meet on the dates noted. Registration deadline for all classes is March 31, 2000.

Collective Bargaining

            Tuesdays and Thursdays, April 11, 13, 18, 20, 25, 27, 2000, from 6:00 P.M. to 8:30 P.M. at Ladish Community Credit Union, 5570  South Packard Ave., Cudahy.

            Topics will include law of collective bargaining, win-win vs. traditional bargaining, language drafting, costing contract proposals and bargaining table activities.

Employment Law

            Thursdays, April 13, 20, 27 & May 4, 11, 18, 2000., from 6:00 P.M. to 8:30 P.M. at USWA Local 1114, 4621 W. National Ave.

            This class will include a survey of worker’s rights under OSHA, Workers Compensation, Family & Medical Leave Act and Americans with Disabilities Act. Topics will include legal rights, remedies, enforcement procedures and the Union’s role in assisting members.

            The cost for these classes is $33.27. Payment of fees by check or money order must be made at the first class session. Checks should be made payable toe MATC. If you have and questions, call the School for Workers at 608-262-4496.

            Local 7-232 members who attend and complete either of these classes on their own time can be reimbursed for the cost of the course by submitting a voucher and certificate of completion to the Financial Secretary-Treasurer.
