Falls Plants 1st & 3rd Shifts By Barb Schuller & Mike Merrill (From Local 7-232 Reporter) Third Stage Grievances We have four discharges going to third stage. The majority of the problems stemmed from attendance. Problems causing members to miss work should be addressed before the possibility of discharge. Please do not wait until you reach 9 points. If you have any problems address them with your grievance so we can get you the help you need. There are many avenues of help available. We also have seven non discharge related grievances going to third stage, mainly from the Die Cast Area. Die Cast Area In the Die Cast Area, we have a meeting scheduled between the Bargaining Comittee and the Die Cast Managment regarding the removal of chairs. We both are trying to address problems in the Die Cast area on a daily basis. We would like to resolve issues on the floor, but in Die Cast it seems we have to go upper management on every issue. Rehab Department There are a lot of Workers Comp rumors circulating in the rehab department. Make sure you contact the Union when you need information and help. there are different aspects to everyone’s case ranging from choice of doctor, nature of injury and compensation rights. Production Cutback Throughout MED there is a seasonal reduction in production. The company has not notified us of any layoff at the time of this article in MED South. Greg Gorecki explains the cutbacks in Plant 1 in his article. Bereavement We are still having problems with bereavement and members not receiving timely payment for days missed. All bereavement verifcation should be taken to Timekeeping. (Located on the second floor of the South Building) Dept. 715 Move There have been a lot of questions from members in Department 715 about the scheduled move of that Department. As of this date, the company has said that everything is on hold until a future date. Community Services Committee able to help members Members are reminded that the Local 7-232 Community Services Committee is able to help members in need of assistance due to unusual hardship. This committee has been able to help many members over the years with assistance, including financial assistance that is often not available with most community agencies. This aid is made possible by donations they receive from the members an others in their annual holiday collections. If you or a member you know is in need of assistance contact the Community Services Committee. |
