Briggs News & Notes

Vacation

For members at Briggs – If you desire the vacation pay as you go, you must fill out a form prior to May 1st. Even if you had pay as you go last year and wish to do so again, you must fill out another form.

If you do not want pay as you go this year, you do nothing and you will receive a lump sum the third Wednesday in June, which this year will be June 20th.

To be eligible for pay as you go, you must be entitled to a full vacation check, which means you were paid 1,600 hours during this vacation year.

The forms will be available after April 1st from your foreman, Human Resource person, or in Personnel.

Bereavement

This is just a reminder that if you have the unfortunate incident of a 3 day bereavement, you must take 3 consecutive working days off attached to the date of death or date of burial. You need to only call in the first day of the bereavement, before 15 minutes prior to the start of your shift.

Good Friday & Unemployment

This is a reminder that if you worked during the first part of April and you then get laid off prior to Good Friday, you still will receive your holiday pay for that day and must claim it as wages for the week for unemployment purposes.

August Insurance Deductions

In the month of August, the Company will deduct your medical insurance premium portion on the 3rd and 4th weeks of the month. Normally, the Company deducts from the first 4 weeks of the month, but due to shutdown, most members will not receive a payroll check the first two weeks. If, for any reason, you do not receive a payroll check for that week, you must pay your premium by the 28th of that month.
