12th Annual Health & Hygiene Drive begins

By Scott Godshaw

The time for the 12th Annual Health & Hygiene Drive has arrived. The official kick-off of the Drive was announced at the March 7, 2001 Milwaukee County Labor Council meeting. We are requesting that you donate items such as: toothbrushes, toothpaste, non-alcohol mouthwash, razors, shaving cream, combs, brushes and hair picks, hair care products, spray deodorant, lip balm, baby products, feminine products, paper products, laundry supplies and first aid supplies. Your contribution allows clients from over 20 Milwaukee area United Way Agencies (mostly shelters) to receive basic items that assist in keeping their self-esteem and dignity intact. The needs of shelters continue to grow. Labor has been the largest contributor of health and hygiene items.

Francine Feinberg, Executive Director of Meta House said, “Your assistance with their basic hygiene needs lets them know that others in the community care about them”.

Please bring your items to the next membership meeting, which will be held on Thursday, April 19, 2001 at AMF Bowlero, or to the Union Office located at 85th & Capitol Drive, anytime through May 25th. Thank you in advance.
