Grievance Rep Report Strattec Security Corp.

by Karl Schneider

I want to thank all our members and their families that came out to Laborfest. I hope you all had a good time. And I hope to see more of you and your families next year.

It has been over a year since you have elected me as your Grievance Representative. I have had some ups and downs taken a few lumps maybe even given a few. The most disappointing and frustrating part of this job has got to be the inability to resolve the grievances that I inherited when I took office. I did not forget about you nor do I intend to.

There are changes coming in the near future JOB CONSOLIDATION is going to be big. As I stated in my last report Job Consolidation is contractual. Your JC Committee Al, Dennis, and myself are working to minimize the affect it will have on Membership. Some of the other changes are tobacco use and where we can eat in the work place. Both of these are company directives that the union has tried to ease the impact on members.

I continue to ask the company to hire more Hourly People. At the time of this writing the company is not holding any open requisitions that means they are trying to fill all the req's they have.

As everyone knows now that we are in September the company has the right to mandatory two Saturdays a month. The company should ask for volunteers before posting a mandatory Saturday.

I am aware that there are problems with the voluntary overtime as well. Our members are being told at the last minute if they are working or not (some are even called at home after they have their 40 hours in).

There are a lot of issues in our daily lives at work and your stewards and bargaining committee are try to resolve them.

In Solidarity,

Karl Schneider
