Grievance Rep ReportBurleigh/Men. Falls Plant First & Third Shifts
by Barb Schuller & Mike Merrill M7S-715 Combining In MED South, the move of Dept. M7S is still going on. M7S will remain a separate department until the combining of Dept. 715 and M7S is complete. The target date is set for October 1, 2000. At that time, both departments will be known as Dept. 715. The automatic equipment from both Dept. M7S and Dept. 715 has been moved to a new area located just south of the Plating Dept. and is now Dept. 238. Job Elimination Rights being discussed In MED North M1, with the Model 19 production permanently cut back, we are meeting with the Company to discuss possible job elimination language for our members Numerous Problems in Die Cast In Die Cast, we still have numerous problems. We addressed the issue with management regarding the speed at which some of the machines were running. We were told that to insure a quality part for their customers that the machines had to run at such a speed. What about the quality of working conditions for our members?! Another issue is the practice of “swapping jobs”. For the past month, Dept. 191 has instituted this practice. They have jobs running at such a fast speed and labor intensive that the tender cannot keep up the pace for eight hours. In order to correct this, the Company is invoking their management rights and taking the job preference away from senior tenders by combining their job with the worst job in the department, rotating every hour. Again, this does not “sit” well with our members. Use Your Stewards We are asking all our members to please utilize your stewards. They are your first lines of communication and defense. Time off & Rolling Calendar Please Note: All voluntary and involuntary layoffs, personal leave of absence, sick leave and Worker’s Compensation loss time (unless you are physically in the Rehab. Dept.) is considered dead time in calculating points for attendance. You must be active for more than 15 calendar days in order for the month to count. |
