Membership Meeting Recap

The membership meetings were held on September 19, 2002 at 12:30 and 3:30 p.m. sharp, respectively, at the AMF Bowlero.

REPORTS

Ross Winklbauer read the Trustee Report at both meetings.

Joe Chambers, in his Financial Secretary-Treasurer’s Report stated there were 1391 members at Briggs and 418 members at Strattec for a total of 1809 dues paying members in August.

COMMUNICATIONS

The Milwaukee County Labor Council AFL-CIO is currently accepting applications for the position of Community Services Liaison due to the upcoming retirement of long time United Way Liaison, Nevada Davis.

Membership approved purchasing a table of six for $50.00 for the Annual WISCOSH dinner, program and meeting.

REPORTS OF OFFICERS

President, Greg Gorecki thanked the people that participated on Labor Day. He also reported on the State AFL-CIO Convention and the upcoming November elections. He also reported updates on Strattec and Briggs.

Karl Schneider reported updates on Strattec layoffs and the meeting that was held with the Company.

Mike Merrill gave updates on the whole Burleigh plant and Menomonee Falls.

Under new business, a member from Strattec that was discharged wanted to overturn the Bargaining Committees’ decision not to arbitrate. The member was discharged for attendance and his motion was voted down. His case thus will not be going to arbitration.

Also under new business nominations were taken for the vacated Vice-President position. At the 12:30 meeting Diane Kronenberg, Debbie Figueroa and Richard Clark were nominated. At the 3:30 meeting John Nalepinski and Tara Fredricks were nominated.

President Gorecki reported the election will take place on Friday, September 27th and if a runoff election is needed it will take place October 4th, 2002.

The next meeting will take place on October 24th, 2002 at the AMF Bowlero.
