Falls Plant, Second Shift
Grievance
Rep Report

Transfers Not Honored
When a job becomes open, the Company should fill that job with the most
senior employee who has a transfer on file. Your transfer should not be denied
unless you have poor attendance or a job complaint on file. If you have poor
attendance or a job complaint on file, you have to go six (6) months to correct
your record. Also, if your transfer is denied, the employee and your grievance
representative should be notified.
New standard of conduct rules
The Company is no longer using the employment shop rules and regulations.
Instead, what they are using now is called “New standard of conduct rules”.
I had my first case on October 9, 2001. An employee was removed from the job for
poor work performance, poor attitude and not following the proper job procedure.
The employee was told that there are no more five (5) day layoffs. He was told
that this was his final warning and the next time he would be discharged. The
Union did not agree to these rules. These are new rules that the Company has
decided to start using. We have sent a letter protesting these rules.
Group change
In order to be eligible for a group change, you have to be out on layoff.
You can make a group change three (3) times per year. The times are four (4)
weeks prior to April 1st, Labor Day, and the Christmas shut down. The Company
will bump you back in within six (6) weeks following those dates, seniority
permitting.
Unemployment extension
Thanks to all who called their Senators and Congressmen asking for an
extension on unemployment benefits. This is needed for many people who are laid
off. Hopefully, something will get done for the state of Wisconsin.
Insurance
Once you have elected your insurance option, you will be receiving a
confirmation statement. Be sure to read it carefully to make sure you have what
you sign up for. This is very important.
Grievances
I have two job complaints that were rescinded and two grievances going to
3rd stage.
A few new jobs
Dept. 191 added 3 operators on 1st shift (flywheel work from Rolla)
Dept. 243 Plating added 4 dayworkers – 2 on 1st shift and 2 on 2nd
shift
