First & Third Shifts

Grievance Rep Report

by Barb Schuller & Mike Merrill

MED South

In MED South, it is still slower than normal. Senior members are gradually being brought back to work. There are no major increases in production. Some of the departments have seen a slight increase in their component production due to the increase in production of small engines in the southern plants. Again the Plating Department will be increasing their staffing level. Those were filled Monday, Oct. 25th. There are still issues in the Coil area that we are trying to deal with. The Union has been meeting with management to resolve the problems.

Die Cast

In Die Cast, the Company held a meeting for all members of that division to explain the scrap problems and costs. In Department 191 (600 Ton) the production of Quantum Flywheels began on Monday Oct. 29th. This will be a 3 shift operation of 1 pieceworker each shift.  This is the only piecework job that department has. This is due to the lack of capabilities of the Rolla  plant to produce these parts.

MED North

In MED North, on October 15th, L3 the Green Line, increased it's production from 200 to 500 Model 19 engines. In the M8 area, members are demoralized with the deep cuts that the Company Time-study has placed on their rates, their livelihood.

Maintain civility to co-workers

On a personal note: There is a lot of tension in the plant, members are concerned about their jobs and their futures. If you have an issue with another member, please do not turn them in to the Company. We have been called too many times in reference to people doing just that. We need to stick together as Brothers and Sisters during these uncertain and tough times.

In Solidarity
