Union Notes - Vacation Info

 Now is time to consider second round option for vacation at Strattec

            At Strattec, members are now through the first round of bidding for vacation time. This process ended on April 30th. Members with the higher seniority will receive preference for those days that are desired. Employees denied vacation as of May 15th may submit vacation requests until May 30th for remaining available dates. The Company will give what is called second-round vacation approval by June 15th.

            What this means is that you will still receive your preference by seniority. Vacation requests submitted by June 15th or after, for any remaining open dates, will be approved on a first-come basis.

Briggs Shutdown begins July 17th

            Shutdown will start on July 17th and you will return to work on July 31st. Areas that will be working should have posted that information prior to April 1st.

Briggs Plants will close Monday, July 3rd

            This year Briggs and Stratton has informed us that they will be shutting down operations on Monday, July 3rd. Tuesday, July 4th, is the paid holiday. Members that chose vacation pay as you go may sign up for a vacation day for July 3rd to receive their vacation pay for that day. If you choose not to, or received lump sum, your attendance will show L.O.W. (lack of work). The day will not be held against you.
