Membership Meeting Recap

          The Membership Meetings were held on February 22, 2001 at 12:30 and 3:30 p.m. sharp, respectively at the AMF Bowlero.

          Vice President Colin Campbell presided over the meeting as President Greg Gorecki was on sick leave due to surgery.

          A motion was made under application for membership and three members from Strattec were accepted unanimously by membership. Two of the members, Stephen Wrigley and Garriy Sverdlik, were present and were sworn in as new members.

Reports

          Vicky Black read the Trustee report at both meetings. Joe Chambers, in his Financial Secretary-Treasurer report, said there were 2,079 dues paying members at Briggs in January and 471 dues paying members at Strattec for a total of 2,550. A motion was made and passed to accept his report.

Communications

          There were take notes on an informational picketing for AFSCME on February 28th, last call for PACE Scholarship Awards Program and School for Workers Trade Union classes:

Collective Bargaining (starting March 15th)

          The cost is $33.31 and you will be reimbursed if you successfully complete the six session course.

          A motion was passed to send eight members (six Briggs Safety Committee members and two Strattec members) to the WISCOSH Spring Conference held at UWM on Saturday, April 7, 2001.

          A motion was also passed to send Mike Merrill and Colin Campbell to the Wisconsin AFL-CIO Legislative Conference that will be held in Madison on April 24th and 25th.

          Reports and updates were given by acting President Colin Campbell, grievance representatives Jesse Edwards, Karl Schneider and John Nalepinski.

Motion ruled out of order

          Under new business, a motion that was properly presented to the Recording Secretary prior to the 12:30 meeting was ruled out of order by acting President Campbell per the recommendation of International Representative Ernie Dex. The motion dealt with an issue that is already in place in the Strattec collective bargaining agreement.

Meeting Attendance Awards

          Members were reminded if they attend membership meetings, they will be rewarded for them. Four meetings and you will be eligible for a cap and six meetings, you will be eligible for a shirt.

          The next Membership Meetings will be held on Thursday, March 22, 2001 at 12:30 and 3:30 at the AMF Bowlero.
