Plan to join Local 7-232 and area unions at Laborfest on Labor Day, September 2nd

By: Scott Godshaw

It's never too early to start thinking about Laborfest on Labor Day, September 2, 2002 at the Lakefront. Last year we had an excellent turnout and what usually happens is once you join us on Labor Day you always come back.

The festivities begin at Zeidler Union Square (4th & Michigan) with a march to the Lakefront at 11:00 a.m. Leading the parade as usual, will be a contingent of Harley-Davidson motorcycles, followed by antique cars. So if you have a Harley or antique car and choose not to march, you can still participate.

The parade ends at the Summerfest grounds, which opens at noon. Admission is always free. Activities include a classic car show, a children's area, the Union industries show, a live band on the Miller Stage and food and beverages available from various vendors.

Laborfest is always a great time and an excellent opportunity to rub elbows with fellow Union members from all sectors.

Our Local always participates in the march and encourages all members with their families and friends to join in. Everyone that participates in the parade will receive a T-shirt.

So again, mark September 2, 2002 Labor Day on your calendar.

It's time to put the "U" back in Union! Be There!
