Plan to join Local 7-232 on Labor Day at LaborFestBy Scott GodshawIf you want to have the time of your life, feel good about yourself and experience the positive meaning of being a Union member, then join us this Labor Day September 2, 2002 for Laborfest. The grand day begins at Zeidler Union Square Park on 4th and Michigan with a march to the Summerfest grounds. The march begins at 11:00 a.m. sharp. There will be free parking for the first 1,000 at the Summerfest Grounds in lot F. Buses and trolleys will begin taking marchers from the Summerfest grounds to Ziedler Park at 8:00 a.m. T-shirts have been approved by membership for all members, families and friends that participate in the march. The t-shirts not only have been ordered but already have been delivered and it is a GREAT T-shirt. The color is fire engine red. On the front of the shirt are the words "Laborfest 2002 and Local 7-232" with the PACE logo in between. On the back there is an eagle over an American flag with lightning. The words, "Proud to be an American, Proud to be Union" also adorn the back with PACE Local 7-232 on the bottom. The festivities begin at noon at the Summerfest grounds with an array of events for children, door prizes, food, beverages, live music with the band Tony's Tygers playing on the Miller Stage. There will also be the always popular raffle for the new Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Of course if you choose not to march, you can drive your Harley or your classic car (pre 1972) in the parade or just join us at the grounds, where admission is always free, for some great fun rubbing elbows with our fellow Union members and friends. Members that joined us last year for the first time on Labor Day are still raving about the event and are anxious and eager to participate again. So, show your Union pride and spirit and join us on our holiday, Labor Day - You won't be disappointed. NOTE: Please call the Union office at 463-7425 to reserve your T-shirt sizes for you, and your family. |
