Surveys will be sent to all members

Surveys will be mailed to members in the next four to six weeks seeking input on the upcoming contract negotiations.

Strattec’s contract ends on May 31, 2001. Briggs and Stratton’s contract is up July 31, of 2002. But there is an early opener required in the Summer of 2001. So bargaining units at both companies face negotiatons in the next 10 to 14 months.

Both Bargaining Committees are beginning to put together priorities for the upcoming negotiations. They want and need the input from the members on which issues have the highest priority for the next contract.

Please take the time to read the survey over thoroughly, fill in with any suggestions or comments you may have and forward to your Union Steward.

Remember that an informed person is a knowledgeable person. The time put into answering this survey will give the Bargaining Committee the information needed to negotiate a fair and decent contract for all of us. Many issues need to be addressed.

Your input into this will increase the leverage the committees will have to negotiate a livable and workable contract. We will have to live with those results for the following years.

If you don’t receive a survey in the mail by mid July, please see your Union Steward for one. They will have additional copies.
