Membership Meeting Recap

The Membership Meetings were held on January 25, 2001 at 12:30 and 3:30 p.m. sharp, respectively at the AMF Bowlero.

A motion was made under application for membership, two members, both from Strattec, were accepted unanimously by membership.

Ross Winklbauer read the Trustee report at both meetings. Joe Chambers, in his Financial-Secretary/Treasurer report, said there were 2127 dues paying members at Briggs in December and 468 dues paying members at Strattec. A motion was made and passed to accept his report.

Under communications, Scott Godshaw read a letter from the Tech Alumni Association. They are searching for alumni from Milwaukee/Boys Tech in conjunction with the ground breaking for the new technical high school. There was a last call for the Wisconsin Labor History Society. All Wisconsin high school (grades 9-12) students are eligible to participate. Submissions must be postmarked by February 15, 2001 or before. PACE International Union also has their Scholarship Awards Program. There will be 22 $1,000 awards for high school seniors and 1 $1,000 award for a member in good standing. United Way of Waukesha is offering a course in referral specialist/union counselor for 6 Mondays beginning February 26, 2001. A motion was passed to send Carol Aumann and Debbie Figueroa to the PACE Region X Women’s Network Meeting in Appleton, WI on Friday, March 23, 2001. Reports and updates were given by President Greg Gorecki, all the grievance reps and Tom Bishanell, Union Compensation Analyst.

In new business, International Rep. Ernie Dex took nominations for the trustee-at-large position and all the grievance representatives. Nominated for 2nd shift was Jesse Edwards and for West Allis it was John Nalepinski. Both were unopposed.

At Strattec, for grievance rep., Chris Larson and Karl Schneider were nominated at the 12:30 meeting and Debbie Figueroa and Nancy Lesniewski were nominated at the 3:30 meeting. For 1st/3rd shift Burleigh and Menomonee Falls, Mike Merrill was nominated at the 12:30 meeting and Mike Parsons, Barb Schuller, and Joe Vogds were nominated at the 3:30 meeting.

The Trustee-at-Large (who can be a member of either Briggs or Strattec) nominations were as follows: 12:30 meeting Vicky Black and Jackie Goodwin and the 3:30 meeting Dorothy Evans. Note:  Jackie Goodwin, nominated for Trustee and Nancy Lesniewski, nominated for Strattec Grievance Rep., did not turn in acceptances prior to 4:30 p.m. on Monday, January 29th, making them ineligible to run for this election.

Also under new business, a motion from a Strattec member was submitted to the Recording Secretary prior to the start of the 12:30 meeting. The motion that passed unanimously was for buttons to be made for Strattec employees that merely read ….. “No Respect”.
