Group Change at Briggs in April
Members currently on involuntary layoff from Briggs and Stratton with a
minimum of five (5) years’ seniority, you may want to consider a group change
to be recalled from layoff.
The next opportunity for such a change would be April 1st. This means you
would have to notify Personnel of your intention to change classification from
assembler, machine operator or dayworker to whichever classification you choose,
one month prior to the April 1st date. This means you would have to do this no
later than March 1st.
The Company will make the bumps during the six (6) week period following
April 1st. If during those six (6) weeks your seniority would come up for recall
in your original classification, you would be recalled to that classification,
hence making your group change null and void. The other times of the year you
can put in for a group change is one month prior to Labor Day or one month prior
to Christmas shutdown.
