Essay contest for students

    The Wisconsin Labor History Society is pleased to announce its High School Essay Contest for the 2001-2002 school year. All Wisconsin high school students (Grade 9-12) are eligible to participate. Great cash prizes, awarded in May 2002, include: $500 First Place, $300 Second Place, $200 Third Place and $100 Honorable Mention (up to 5 awarded). This years themes will be one of the following:

  1. “Unions Have Been Important to My Family and My Community Because ……” (or)

  2.  “How Work Experiences have Shaped the Life of My Family or of My Neighbors”.

    Essays should be approximately 750 words in length and will be judged on understanding, evidence of original research, writing style and significance. The flyer can be picked up at the Union Office at 8500 W. Capitol Dr. or at the next membership meeting on January 24, 2002. Submissions must be postmarked by February 15, 2002 or before. Please encourage your children, grandchildren, nieces or nephews to participate.
