Grievance Rep ReportWest Allis Plantby John Nalepinski In Dept. 551, the Model 9 Cam Cell Line has been moved to Department M-5 at the Burleigh Plant. I was surprised that it was moved so quickly. The estimated start up of this line is August, 2000. The Quantum Cam Line is scheduled to be up and running in M-5 by November of 2000. There has been an issue that we have addressed with the Company on reporting injured at West Allis. The EMT’s are deterring our members from seeking medical treatment. Our members are being told to go back to work and to see their own doctors the following day. By State Law you have the right to be seen by a doctor of your choice. The problem with going back before getting medical treatment is that the injury can be worsened. Your time off by not being treated by a medical doctor could keep you out of work a lot longer. At the start of Department 552 going to long-running jobs, I protested to the Company about repetitive motion injuries. We now have approximately 14 people in the Rehab. Dept. since starting long running jobs around Christmas of 1999. The Safety Team that has been established at West Allis is addressing many issues to help to make the work environment safe for all workers. If you have any concerns or suggestions, please contact one of us. In closing, I just want to give credit to the Stewards who work so hard and I want to say thank you. In Solidarity, John Nalepinski |
